I Think “entertainment” On British Tv Stinks! I Have Seen A Lot Of American Tv, And I Believe That Started….?

…..the trend in mediocrity that passes for entertainment.
The Yanks are hot on violence, manic game shows and crap like “Friends” whereas, over here, it’s also game shows, endless controversy in those hyped-up Soaps, and those unreal Reality farces.
Whatever happened to good old class acting, REAL comedy and interesting documentaries?
Unfortunately, quality entertainers in the mainstream are now from a bygone era.
If I see another “camp” chat show host, I’ll puke.
Call me politically-incorrect, but where’s the razor blades???

Sceptics: Are You Aware That Even The Big Energy Companies Believe In Climate Change Now?

.
NRG Energy has recently won up to $154 million from the Dept. of Energy to help it install a system to capture carbon dioxide emissions from ONE of it’s coal-fired power plants.
As the Dallas News article reports, this follows the company signing up to join the Climate Action Partnership and testifying before house and senate committees writing climate change legislation.
The 154 Million Dollar grant comes after the company also spent under one million dollars on lobbying on climate change in Washington: [QUOTE]
——————–
“”The New Jersey-based utility spent $910,000 on lobbying in 2009, according to Senate records. It spent $300,000 just during the fourth quarter of 2009, when it lobbied on a host of incentives available to energy companies, including loan guarantees for nuclear plants and renewable energy projects.
NRG has maintained its membership in the U.S. Climate Action Partnership, a group of businesses and environmental organizations that played a big role in shaping the House bill.”"
————————————–…
And the best bit of news of all? NRG Corporation intends to sell the carbon dioxide it captures to big oil companies so they can inject it into the ground to extract even more oil! Treble whiskies all round!
~ So, sceptics, do you admit that even the big oil and energy companies “believe” in climate change now?

Do You Believe A Talk Show Host Should Go Off On Tangents Talking About Himself, When The Show Isn’t His?

I was listening to an NPR program earlier this morning (The Takeaway), where the host didn’t seem to be really listening to what his guests were saying, and he would make random comments about himself in the middle of what the guest was saying (i.e. when one guest spoke about how many Facebook friends their organization had, the host interrupted to say he didn’t have that many on his personal page).
I completely understand people who have their own talk shows (which are actually named after them) talking about themselves through the show. I also understand the little banter at the end of the BBC’s programs, to fill time until the ending music starts… but I think it is completely rude of this host, to interrupt the news stories and interviews with little tidbits about himself throughout what is supposed to be a professional show, which has several various hosts and not just him, on a national news network.
What do you think, though?
