I run a children’s boutique on etsy and currently searching for the best choice for web hosting. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, are there any web hosting sites that charge you monthly rather than yearly, etc?
1 There are some hosting sites that charge you monthly (like Hostgator) but they’re usually a lot more expensive that way so it’s not really worth it. For example Hostgator charges $9.95/month + $15.00 for a domain name, so for like $45.00 you get 3 months of hosting. For that price you might as well get a full year of hosting (including a domain name).
A lot of hosts are willing to offer a huge discount in order to attract new customers.
I recommend one of these: http://www.tophostingpicks.com
iPage has the best offer right now.
Their standard price is $84/year ($6.95) but they have
a 50% sale, one year of hosting for $42.00.
Their plan includes:
Unlimited disk space
Unlimited bandwidth
Free domain name
Price: $42/year ($3.50)
They have one of the most popular hosting platforms, which currently hosts over a million websites. They’re also one of the oldest hosting companies, founded in 1998.
They include a free point & click online site builder so you can create a website without any programming (easily, just by drag and drop).
They also have a great custom control panel with OneClick installs of all the popular software like Wordpress, Joomla, Forums, Chat, Galleries, Online stores and a lot more.
2 Hi, if you’re looking for a nice hosting site, I recommend a couple of the following which don’t cost too much and yet provides everything you need to start your business online. I have a couple of sources I do recommend…you can see sites listed below.
Simple Host (See Site Listed in the source below)
Lonex (See Site Listed in the source below)
Nice thing is that you can also grow your site with these hosting companies as well. They both have been good to me and I don’t’ have any issues with them either. Give them a try and see how they work for you.

I like to build a webpage to market and sell products with dropshipping wholesale supplier. I registered for my own domain. Do I need a web hosting to build a webpage? I tried hostgator, supergreen, and many others, and none of them work or that I couldn’t login to cPanel. They won’t work. I’m sorry to say I have no experience in building webpage. Anyone that can help me will be greatly appreciated.
1 Yes you do need a web hosting service to build a webpage. Hope I helped.
2 Some (not all) of the other answers are only about basics but you are talking about e-commerce. There is free open source e-commerc software and there are also hosting providers who offer pre-installed e-commerce packages. You will need some expert professional help either way if you plan to be up and running soon. Otherwise you should not have expectations of a quick startup. It takes some time to learn how to use such a software package and setup your store.
3 first of all you need to know how to write html to design a web page. or you need to have softwares like dream weaver which help you design without writing codes. once you done developing your website, then you need to host it using some web hosting service provider. since you r looking for e commerce i would suggest you hire a professional.

Are web hosting and blog hosting two different things?
In other words, if you pay for a web hosting does it include blogging feature? What hosting offer such?
1 Yes, you can get the blogging feature included.
I recommend one of these: http://www.hosttell.com/
Powweb has the best offer right now. It’s on a 50% sale – $3.88/month ($46.56/year), and you get a free domain from them. (like www.yourwebsite.com)
They include easy, one click install of Wordpress through their control panel. It’s the most popular blogging software, used by majority of top blogs.
2 For me, web hosting includes blogging, multiply pages, custom contents, etc.
Blog hosting is usually just a blog and photos/videos. Some of them have subpages that usually is known as the profile.
Most professional hosting services offer blogging systems such as Wordpress. If Wordpress is too hard to install (though professional services usually have the one-click installation), you could use CuteNews (known to be hacked very easily) or FanUpdate.

Why is yahoo closing geocities free web hosting when the market for advertising is so competitive?
What will replace it? the Yahoo Free web hosting with limitations is not very good. What other free web hosts are there that allow the user to design their own pages?
1 May be because of spammers and they have to maintain which site to block and which to keep. Also they must be thinking that having hosting will generate more revenue then free hosting with ads
you must try dataxsolutions.com. I have been with them for past 10 years.
2 Geocities was limited. You can’t use it to make a huge website because it doesn’t allow file transfer but only in the traditional go to website upload which most if not all free webhosting services are doing. It may have not been a good model for yahoo that’s all and sure that decision came from the new ceo.
Advertising is competitive to a point but you can’t just rely on that, it too is slowing more then expected and everyone is looking for new models. My point of view the quantity is way outshining the quality which knocks off consumer confidence its just clutter. Where is true data and where has it gone!
3 I dont know why Its been limmited from its start. I suggest going with hastyfree.com I’m with them and its wonderful
