How do you design a website that is compatible with Linux Web Hosting?

I don’t know anything about web design. What programs are compatable with Linux Web Hosting? What would you recommend? Do you know about any good templates compatable with Linux Web Hosting?

The main difference is what kind of technology you can run on your host. .Net, Asp.Net, VB.net is Windows, PHP, Perl, Python is Linux (usually). If you’re not using any of those programming languages you don’t have to alter your code in any way shape or form.

In other words, Dreamweaver is compatible with both Linux and Windows.

4      K Disk is an idiot. JSP definitely runs on linux, and ASP.NET works fine on Linux with Mono.

Where can i get a good deal on a domain and web hosting package without getting more than i need?

I am looking to get a domain name and web hosting for the site i built. It is for my PC repair business. If you’re talking about web hosting services, I don’t think google, yahoo, amazon, or ebay are web hosting services. You won’t get a website from them. You’ll have to look on the internet for a package that is right for you (how much disk space you want, bandwidth, features, etc.

1       First of all you have to know that you have long way ahead. Try:

- apache as webserver

- php, mysql as language and database server.

- cpanel to give the users an administrative panel.

2       Well you have a long way to go – and I am pretty skeptical that you actually know .net considering the nature of your question. Who knows what sqlser is even supposed to mean.. You probably meant, you know OF these things.

You want to run a web serer, first thing you need is a server operating system such as Linux or MS Server (obviously).

3       If you want to turn your computer into a web server you might want to try pclinuxos. In the control panel there’s an option to turn your computer into a web server .I would advise you to read a lot about what this does to your computer exactly and to make sure you understand the security implications of running your own server.
